What Happens if You Eat Spicy Food Every Day?

To some of us, it’s heaven on earth. To others, it feels like torture. Whoever you are, though, we’re sure you have a strong opinion on spicy foods one way or the other. This type of cuisine is one of the most hotly debated between both friend groups and chefs, but one thing we’re sure everyone would agree on is that eating it daily would be a bad idea.

In general, most types of foods aren’t good to eat all the time. But the way spicy meals can interact with the body, there’s no way long-term exposure could be good for you. So let’s take a look at what would happen to most people if they were to eat spicy food every day of their life.

You Could Experience Lasting Stomach Issues

It’s no secret that many people experience stomach issues when they have too much spicy food at once. It usually involves a quick trip to the bathroom to relieve oneself, but in extreme cases, it can cause nausea. Either way, there’s a reason why spicy meals are one of the many foods that can trigger incontinence, so avoid them at all costs if you have that issue.

Even if you don’t, though, constantly eating spicy foods can make these bathroom troubles a more permanent issue. In some instances, your body may eventually build up a tolerance to this, but the problem could worsen in others.

    You Might Develop Vocal Problems

Even though food doesn’t pass through the vocal cords, some types of food can still affect them. Since spicy foods are typically oily and very acidic, they might burn a bit on the way down, which can severely impact the throat.

While this will likely not reach the vocal cords, it certainly will on the way back up. This is because the acidic nature of spicy foods can cause acid reflux, bringing up even more harmful contaminants into your voice box. Having this problem occur regularly can cause soreness and swelling that leads to a hoarse voice.

You Could See Skin Irritations Arise

One potential set of problems that could happen from eating spicy food every day is certain skin irritations. If any of the inflammation that comes from this type of cuisine gets excessive enough, it could start to make itself known on the surface of one’s skin.

Those who eat spicy meals too often tend to have occasional acne breakouts. In severe cases, it could even cause eczema. While these symptoms could originate from a different type of food, this kind is a common culprit of such issues.
